One last sem before our immunity status! I hope I can survive. :)

(USC Law retention policy: You need to reach fourth year without incurring a failure of at least 6 academic units of your enrolled subjects, otherwise, you will not be accepted by USC on the next semester. If you reach fourth year, with 121 academic units passed, then you will be given an immunity status, which serves as a guaranty that you will graduate USC Law, in other words, a Carolinian Law graduate provided that you pass all of your subjects on your final year in law school no matter how long it takes or how many academic units you failed during your final year; or if you pass the dreaded Philippine Bar Exams, a Carolinian Lawyer.)

Here's what I wore to our law acquaintance party and honouring of new Carolinian lawyers last month. It is a lace dress and is actually a backless one. Third Year Law

So, I bid a temporary farewell to my second year law books! I will be with them again hopefully when I reach my last year in law school which is the fourth year in which our subjects are mostly bar review subjects.

This is my admission slip and my class schedule. How fast time flies. I'm now on my third year in law school. I survived my first two years in law school and I am now halfway on my journey towards the Bar Exams. This is something that I am really thankful of! I hope I can still survive third year despite of my recurring gastric problems. Weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Minimal Reflux Esophagitis Grade A and Gastritis Antrum positive for Helicobacter Pylori. Right now, I feel disappointed because I am on my second week on my medication but still my Gastritis symptoms do not completely subside and they bother me a lot because our class will start next week. I hope I'll get well soonest so that I can study effectively for ten straight months.

Midterm examinations at law school are fast approaching. We will be having our exams next week. I'm starting to get stressed out. Fire and Ice

Two weeks ago, we had an acquaintance party held at the Cebu International Convention Center. The party's theme was "Fire and Ice". It was suggested that we should wear colors like blue, red, white, silver or some other colors that connote "fire" and "ice".

It was only the day before the party that I decided to wear black instead of the colors that I enumerated above. I tried looking for dresses at stores but I'm considering wearing black instead for the party because I gained weight and I want to look a bit thinner. I bought this little black dress from Forever 21 months ago then paired it with my favorite Zara-inspired heels from Gibi Collection and my vintage Louis Vuitton bag (which is unfortunately absent on my outfit shots lol).

But at least I did not break entirely the "color-code" for the said party because I wore a blue and green color-blocked heels! haha :)

From LLB 1 to LLB 2

Ericka Jean Garcia, LLB 2! I survived my first year at law school and now, I hope and pray that I can still make it this year. One semester at a time! :) 

First Year at Law School: A Success!

           What I learned during my first year as a law student: life at law school is not always fun, it is 90% serious stuff. You got to spend most of your time reading law books and Supreme Court decisions. You have the great tendency to leave your social life for a while and live like a hermit, staying most of the time at the law library. Yes, you need to sacrifice; otherwise you won't be able to pass all the subjects. I also learned that surviving law school is not an individual's fight. Cooperation and teamwork with your classmates are very indispensable.  

           I'm very thankful to God for granting my prayers. He helped me pass all of the first year subjects!

          I'm finally proclaiming myself as an incoming second year law student, which is another year of hard work, dedication and faith. I hope and pray that I can still survive the next following years at law school; for now, I have to enjoy the summer vacation and most of all, SLEEP for at least eight hours a day! During classes, sleeping for more than four hours a night is already a blessing! :)

Moot Court Competition

Last Sunday, we were required by our law professor to attend a Moot Court Competition as one of our requirements for the subject, Forensics (take note, this is different from Forensic [without S, which is about the science of investigating criminal cases], the subject Forensics [with S] is about argumentation and debate). He also instructed us to be in a "corporate look" in attending such, so that's why I ended up wearing one on that day. 

A typical "corporate look" would be a black blazer paired with a dress, or a polo + a pencil skirt. A "corporate look" will never be complete without a closed-heeled shoes.

That's Why I'm Asking You!

The graphic t-shirt has a print design of our law professor's usual facial expression during our oral examinations with his famous sarcastic remark every time we return back his questions during such.

Our class agreed to print a t-shirt with such design to show our admiration to our law professor on Persons and Family Relations Law, Atty. Joseph Randi Torregosa. Atty. Torregosa's way of teaching is what we reckoned as the most effective one at law school. He assigned us lots of chapters on the book and the range of 30-45 Supreme Court Cases to read in advance for his mighty oral examinations. He's a law professor with a great sense of humor. There's no single class that we had from him that we don't laugh at his effortless jokes and at the same time we learn a lot from them too. But what I don't like is his "brain-bleeding" written examinations. I even cried after our final exams on his subject because it was sooooooooooo hard and he just laughed at us during the exam upon seeing our face on great agony at his exam. Thank God I passed the subject! haha

Back to the outfit, so I choose the dark colors like black and gray to match the graphic t-shirt because I want to try pulling off a punk/rockstar/grunge/whateveryoucallit look. haha :)

Hello Second Semester!

My hard work during my first semester as a freshman Law student has been finally paid off! I passed all the subjects of the first semester and that was NOT definitely a piece of cake. Before I entered Law School, I thought Law School is not that difficult but I was wrong. I never expected that time that in Law School, we are required to read lots of books, and in addition, SUPREME COURT DECISIONS! Imagine, one law professor would just give you 20 or sometimes 45 Supreme Court Decisions (each decision has an average page numbers of 4 to 10 on a long bond paper, using font size 9, VERY LONG!) to read for the oral examinations and another professor would also give a set of cases and you need to read them in a span of 2 or 3 or 4 days! 

Law School is NEVER EASY. My law professor who is also the dean of the School of Law and Governance of the University of San Carlos once said that, "Law School is not all about intelligence, it's also about diligence." She is correct. Becoming a lawyer does not only require a man with high IQ it also needs diligence, without the latter, Law School would be impossible to survive.

On November 5, 2012 will be the start of my 2nd semester as a freshman Law Student, still, I hope and pray that I can survive this semester. For me, not only intelligence and diligence are primary ingredients in surviving Law School but also

divine intervention.

Back to School!

So, it's back to school guys! I'm finally studying Law at my beloved Alma Mater, University of San Carlos. It's my first week being a Law Student and I conclude that it's not that easy to become a lawyer. LLB (Bachelor of Laws) is waaaaaaay different from the undergrad courses. You really have to read a lot of cases and law books. My mantra now is "Study hard and pray harder!" I hope and pray that I can survive!

Back to my outfit, I wore this when I went to the mall to buy a bag at Mango. Here's the post about the bag that I bought recently at Mango: New In: Mango Bag and Primmadonna Platforms. The mint top was given to me by my good friend Rocena. The blazer is from my mother's closet. Would you believe that the blazer is actually 10 years old? My mother bought it ten years ago and she's not been using it for many years so I ask her that she would just give the blazer to me so that I can use it as my school uniform (since the USC-College of Law is requiring us to wear corporate attire every Wednesday). My Converse Chuck Taylor is also quite old. It's also 5 years old! hahaha!
